We meet thousands of dog owners from all over who complain that their dog is becoming lethargic and that it is not responding to their commands. Now, the common thinking is that age must be catching up with the dog. A dog is expected to have a life span of about 14 years in general, and right up to the last couple of years, a dog is generally very active.
The problem lies in the fact that your dog is not getting enough / the right kind of exercise. Just like we go down to the gym to do the various kinds of exercises ranging from aerobics to weight training to cross training and abdomens; your dog also needs to have a varied set of activities so that all parts of its body are kept in top condition. And just letting your dog run around the compound will not suffice.
- The most common reasons for a dog to bark are hunger and thirst. Especially in the summer months, slurping water is more of a comfort than a thirst buster for a dog. So ensure that the bowl is full and that too with water that is cool. Same with food.
- If you live in an area that has a lot of noise and disturbance – like if you live on the main street where there’s a lot of traffic or construction work going on, your dog can get quite anxious if it can only hear the noise and not see it. So one solution would be to let the dog see the happenings on your street and that will normally keep it quiet.
- Another reason why the dog barks is because he is uncomfortable. It might be too hot for him or too cold; or he might have the need to run out for a while.
Many individuals enjoy having a beagle in their daily lives. Beagles are very cute with their friendly attitude towards people and expectant eyes. However, take it personally from us, that beagles training can be a bit of a chore. If you would like to train your beagle the right way, then you will need to possess some patience. Without patience, you will not succeed at training your puppy. Once you decide to start training your beagle, you should not give up. You need to put a lot of dedication into training that four-legged friend. Our friend showed us a guide called “Zone Training Your Beagle” which seemed to have some very useful advice.
{There are two stages to dog chewing. One is when the dog is getting teeth for the first time, and feels the need to chew on something to alleviate the itch in the mouth! Whatever you put within reach of the puppy during that phase is bound to be chewed up – irrespective of whether it is leather or furniture. There is little you can do at that phase, except redirect its chew-energy towards something that is designated to be chewed. You can get something like a soft bone or a chew-toy for your dog, and each time you catch him chewing something else, redirect his energy towards the chew toy. Every time you see him chewing his designated toy, praise him and play with him so that he knows that this is what he should do.
There are also sprays available at good pet stores that can be sprayed on objects that you do not want your dog to chew. The taste and the smell become overpowering for the dog and it won’t go near. Don’t worry – the ones that you find in the popular stores are all tested and are safe.
If the matter persists, time for you to meet an expert, or probably a vet. There might be some other reason beyond the common realm causing your dog to chew.
The basic psychology of potty training a dog is the same as any other kind of dog training. Praise him when he does it right and say ‘bad dog’ and take him to the designated place when he does wrong. The important thing is that you don’t move the ‘potty area’ around once you bring the pup home. To begin with, you can use absorbent paper, and as the dog becomes older, you can try something like sawdust. Once you have the absorbent paper in place, each time you see the dog getting into potty position, immediately carry him over to the designated area, and wait till the task is done. Change the papers immediately, and keep doing that till the dog gets used to the idea that this is his ‘potty place’. Each time the dog goes by itself to the potty area, praise him and give him a little gift – something to nibble on, or play with him for a while.}

Nail clippers are the essential tools for dog nail grooming, working for both professional and home use. Clippers are available in many sizes and models, it is all about choosing the model that best suits your dog’s needs. Medium-sized clippers normally work on small and medium-sized breeds. Grinders offer an alternative to clippers that lots of groomers prefer, and which should definitely prove suitable for a wide range of dog nail grooming applications.
Grinders smooth off edges while clippers cut. Both tools can be used in parallel or in support of each other because dog nail grooming is complex and sometimes risky. There is a guard attached to some clippers which prevents cutting too much nail, yet, because of this guard, you may not see the nail when cutting and you could injury the toe veins. This kind of injury is very possible if the groomer is inexperienced or uses improper tools.
There are very professional items for dog nail grooming that allow for the stemming of the bleeding by the cauterization of the vein that gets touched with the clippers. The dog’s comfort is essential for the matter, pain frightens the animal and it will become nervous every time you handle its paws.
Why is dog nail grooming so important? Well, long nails can be very painful for animals, particularly when they live indoors and have few opportunities to smooth the nails against the ground. Improperly trimmed nails also carry the risk of ingrown nails, which are both painful and uncomfortable. Listen to your dog walking on hard floors, and if they click, then, dog nail grooming is a must right away.
When the dog has too brittle nails to cut by normal dog nail grooming methods, filing or grinding is the alternative that avoids the formation of splinters. Consider your dog’s tolerance and disposition when trimming nails. Don’t attempt at cutting them all at once; breaks are usually necessary in order to allow the animal to relax. There have been cases when pets have bitten their masters during this kind of grooming episodes.
With many dogs it takes a lot of time to get used to nail trimming. Tolerance can be helped with careful handling, but this doesn’t always work. Try the reward system and give your pet a tiny treat after each nail cut. This may help you complete the task more rapidly and without incidents.

{Choosing the best dog breeds to adapt at your cozy home can be a daunting question; especially if you haven t adapted a dog beforeIf it is the first time you are thinking of adapting a puppy, choosing the best dog breeds can be tricky}. Children are the ones who are almost always interested in adapting a dog but little do they know about dog breeds that are friendlier and suitable for home fronts and those dog breeds that are not.
It is a known common fact that some dog breeds tend to become jealous towards children in search of attention and that could be dangerous in a household depending on the age of your children. Therefore, you should read up on the nature of dog breeds, basic dog care techniques and what kind of environment is suitable for the breed that you are planning on adapting.
There are over 150 dog breeds to choose from. remember that dog breed have characteristics of their own and they come in to play. Whilst dogs can be the best friends for humans, be wise and think about what may go wrong if you adapt certain dog breeds.
There are two types of dogs to begind with; terristorial and friendly. Some dog breeds require a single master who will have the control over the dog s behavior and know how to discipline them. A perfect example of such single master dogs are guard dogs used by police.
One more important thing you should know about dog breeds is that some dogs know how to boss around people and know whom to obey. One more thing you should focus on when selecting dog breeds is the general temperament of the breed and grooming.
If the dog breeds you choose have a everyday temperament then that means they are easy to discipline and they d probably make good friends with children. If not, they could be used as custodial dogs.
Dog Grooming is a hassle for many dog owners but if you check all relevant information about dog breeds before you make the choice of buying a certain dog breed, then you will know what to expect. Generally, the long hair types are difficult to maintain while the shorthaired ones are easier to get by.
